UIDAI ECMP Client Version Revocation, Version 182-3 Promoted To Stable And Upgrade Guidelines With Full Installer

UIDAI, the Unique Identification Authority of India, has issued a crucial update regarding the ECMP (Enrolment Client Multiplatform) client. With the aim of enhancing security and efficiency, UIDAI has revoked older versions and promoted ECMP version 182-3 to stable, effective from February 2, 2024.

Key Points

1. Stable Release of ECMP 182-3:

   - As of January 23, 2024, ECMP version 182-3 has been promoted to stable, ensuring reliability and performance.

2. Revocation of Older Versions:

   - On February 2, 2024, UIDAI took the necessary step of revoking older versions of the ECMP client in production.

3. Allowed Versions Going Forward:

   - From now on, only versions 3.3.4.2/182-1 (full installer available in the upload portal), 3.3.4.2/182-2, and 182-3 will be supported. Users are urged to upload pending packets before February 2, 2024, to prevent packet loss.

4. Upgrade Instructions:

   - If the ECMP client does not upgrade automatically to 182-3 after waiting for a few hours, users are advised to follow specific steps outlined by UIDAI.

5. Directive from UIDAI-HQ:

   - All older versions of ECMP Windows will be revoked and will no longer be supported from February 2, 2024, as per UIDAI-HQ's directive.

Upgrade Walkthrough for ECMP Client Version 182-3

Step 1: 📂 Backup Your Data

- Navigate to: C:\UID Authority of India\Aadhaar Enrolment Client\
- Copy the entire content of the "packet-auto" folder to a safe location, ensuring data integrity.

Step 2: ❌ Uninstall the ECMP Client

- Access your computer's control panel.
- Go to "Programs" and select "Uninstall a program."
- Locate "ECMP Client" in the list, right-click, and choose "Uninstall."

Step 3: 📥 Download Full Installer

- Visit the Upload Portal.
- Download the full installer for ECMP client version 3.3.4.2/182-1.

Step 4: 🛠️ Install the New Version

- Run the downloaded installer.
- Follow on-screen instructions for a smooth installation.
- Note: The software might auto-upgrade to version 182-3 during this process.

Step 5: 🖥️ Perform Registration

- Open the newly installed ECMP client.
- Complete the registration process using the same station ID to simplify registration steps.

Step 6: ⏸️ Stop Aadhaar Enrolment Client and QSSITV Services

- Access the task manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) on your computer.
- Locate and end processes related to "Aadhaar Enrolment client" and "QSSITV services."

Step 7: 🚫 Exercise Caution with Packet Folders

- Ensure you do not copy older packets into the new "packet-auto" folder. Keep the folders separate.

Step 8: 🔄 Restart Services

- After completing the above steps, restart both "Aadhaar Enrolment client" and "QSSITV services" for the changes to take effect.
